My superpower is helping sensitive souls. Many students are turned off by math because something didn’t click at some point, and now they feel overwhelmed because they can’t keep up. It is also really common to dislike math because their learning style doesn’t match the teaching style they’ve received.
*It’s not your fault!* You just need a little extra time, patience, and creativity to understand.
My favorite part of tutoring is when someone comes to me hating math or is convinced that they just aren’t good at math… and then after a few sessions, they tell me how easy it is or come beaming to be how well they did on their test.
If math is presented in a low stress and supportive environment, it can do wonders for a students confidence, and thus progress. I know this because I am highly sensitive.
I also hold a master’s of science and a bachelor’s of science. I attended an accelerated high school for engineering where I excelled in all of my advanced math classes. I continued on to take 2 more years of college level math for engineers. I have been tutoring since high school, both privately, with tutoring organizations and schools. I currently am employed through the Department of Education as a middle school and high school math tutor. I specialize in algebra, geometry and standardized test (SAT/ACT) prep.
I look forward to meeting you. Aloha!Show more
